Item MODEL STUDY OF RIVER CHENAB DOWNSTREAM QADIRABAD BARRAGE FOR CHECKING LOCAL EROSIVE ACTION(Hydraulics Wing, Irrigation Research Institute, Lahore, 2025-03) Hydraulics Wing, Irrigation Research Institute, LahoreRiver Chenab downstream Qadirabad Barrage has leftward trend and eroded a vast stretch of land over the course of years. In last so many years, the river edge has been shifted an average of 2100 feet towards left by eroding the settlements of Chak Mehra, Burj Bhian and Millah Dera Jat etc. In order to keep the river away from the local settlements and fertile agricultural land located at the eroded edge of deepest river channel, and the fertile agriculture lands, a choking spur was constructed which was also damaged during flood 2014 & two new creeks had been developed during flood 2014 which were plugged by constructing embankments. However, this embankment was a temporary measure and will not be able to stop the leftward drift of the river which may result in to rapid leftward drifting of River Chenab at Channi Mahra, Burj Bhian and Mallah Dera Jat etcItem Role of Irrigation & Water Resources Research in the Economic Development of Nation by Adnan Hassan(Pakistan Engineering Congress, 2024) Adnan Hassan Deputy Director / Senior Research Officer Irrigation Research InstituteOne of the main causes of prosperity of developed nations is the extensive application of science and technology in almost the entire fabric of their economy. The developing countries have lately come to realize the importance of research as vital ingredient of economic growth and consequently are endeavoring to mobilize their indigenous resources to boost up their developmental activities with the assistance of modern technology. But, by and large, the Research and Development activity in the Water Resources sector, a very essential element for systematic growth of infra structure is however still very much neglected. The investment in Irrigation and Water Resources research has been universally recognized as capable of appreciable reduction in the overall cost of management of water resources in addition to boosting up technological capabilities of the man-power and developing new techniques/innovations. This article, apart from discussing the need for establishing Irrigation Research Institute, their part in effecting/exercising quality control through sustained testing in major developing works to meet the diversified needs of the ever-growing technological age. It also briefly outlines the activities of the Irrigation Research Institute, Lahore; its past achievements and future programs.Item Annual Report 2023-24 of Physics Wing(Physics Wing Irrigation Research Institute, 2024) Physics Wing Irrigation Research InstituteAnnual Report 2023-24 of Physics wing of Irrigation Research Institute regarding activites performedItem GEOTECHNICAL ANALYSIS OF REHABILITATION OF MONTGOMARY PAKPATTAN (M.P) LINK CANAL FROM RD 0+000 TO RD 109+100(Physics Wing Irrigation Research Institute, 2024) Physics Wing Irrigation Research InstituteItem GEOTECHNICAL INVESTIGATION OF BRIDGE SITE AT JHAJRI NULLAH NEAR VILLAGE DAUD-BHENIAN IN NAROWAL(Physics Wing Irrigation Research Institute Lahore, 2024) Physics Wing Irrigation Research Institute LahoreItem Model Study for Protection of Road Embankment Faisalabad Site Near Qutab Shahana Bridge at Ravi River: Physical Model at Hydraulic Research Station Nandipur Gujranwala(2024) Irrigation Research Institute Directorate of HydraulicsItem Model Study of Indus River for the Proposed Extension of Bhakkar Flood Bund from D.I.Khan to RD 200+000 for Protection of Abadies & Infrastructures in District Bhakkar & Layyah Reach-I: Physical Model at Hydraulic Research Station Nandipur Gujranwala(2024) Irrigation Research Institute Directorate of HydraulicsItem Improving Sustainable Groundwater Management a Case Study of Managed Aquifer Recharge in Punjab Pakistan(2023) Ghulam Zakir HassanItem Trends and challenges for groundwater in Lahore(Groundwater managment cell physics directorate irrigation research institute Lahore, Pakistan, 2022-12-01) Irrigation Department Govt.of the Punjab
