Abstract

This book provides a comprehensive exploration of Iran's rich cultural and historical legacy, from its mythological origins under King Jamshid to the philosophical and religious teachings of Prophet Zarathushtra. It traces the nation's golden age under kings like Darius and Khusru, while examining Iran’s interactions with major civilizations such as India, Egypt, China, and Assyria. Special focus is given to Iran’s literary and spiritual traditions, including Zoroastrianism, the Mithra cult, Sufism, and the Persian language. The book also highlights the development of Persian literature and its influence on neighboring cultures, particularly Urdu and Turkish. In its later chapters, it turns to Iran’s artistic achievements and the social and political changes in modern times, culminating in an overview of modern Persian literature.
